We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Bendigo .

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

The course on Sunday was great. Matt explained everything clearly and made it easy to follow, and I learned a lot from the practical parts

Last weekend, I joined a street photography class that turned out to be far more than just a technical lesson?it was a creative awakening. Led by the ever-enthusiastic Matt, whose passion for the craft was absolutely contagious, the session invited us to look at the world with fresh eyes. Matt didn?t just teach us how to take photos?he showed us how to see. We explored how colour, framing, and point of view can transform a standard street scene into something layered and evocative. A splash of yellow against a deep blue wall, shadow slicing across a footpath, the quiet drama of someone waiting at a tram stop?suddenly, everything felt like a story waiting to be told. What I loved most was the encouragement to experiment. Matt created such a relaxed, open space that even the shyest among us felt comfortable crouching low for an unusual angle or lingering near a caf? to catch a fleeting moment. It wasn?t about getting the ?perfect? shot?it was about noticing the beauty in the everyday and letting our curiosity lead. If you?re looking to stretch your creative muscles and see your city through a more soulful lens, I can?t recommend this class enough. Bring your camera, your walking shoes, and a willingness to be surprised.

I wasn?t sure what to expect as an absolute beginner with a camera I hadn?t used. Matt absolutely inspired me with his own passion in photography and generously shared as much of this with ease in his teaching model that was easy to understand. I thought this workshop was about the camera, however it?s actually sparking the joy and capability of who is holding the camera. Thankyou Matt I cannot wait to see what reveals itself through this Lens on my camera and of course the next workshop.

Found the event enjoyable and very informative. Learnt a lot about my camera, using manual settings and taking better photos . Would recommend the coarse to others wanting to learn how to get away from auto settings.

Sorry, re-doing this because I realised I?d made a mistake. Though I often take photos of spider webs covered in water drops, this particular photo is of cattle hair caught in the barbed wire. So my original text should say that instead of spider webs.

I love looking into flowers. The inside of a flower is like a hidden world. Most people don't stop to notice the pollen, tiny curves and colours.

Dawn on the Yarra ? Melbourne, VictoriaPhotograph by Shayne T WrightThis image was captured from the eastern side of the Lamont Bridge in Melbourne at approximately 5 a.m., looking upstream along the Yarra River. The shot was deliberately planned for that time of morning to avoid foot traffic and river activity, particularly the rowing crews and scullers that regularly move through the area shortly after sunrise. At the time, I was heavily experimenting with HDR photography and panorami

2025 and 2026 have been exceptional for auroras due to intense solar flares and coronal mass ejections from the sun. I missed the show in May 2025, but in early October I was in central Victoria and had a few fruitless attempts ? but at least found that Lake Eppalock was a good south-facing vantage point in our area without much light pollution and an open view over the water. It pays to scout out your location. We were just about to have dinner when an Aurora group I follow posted tha

This image is a Still Life Composition of "Berries, Wine and Grapes" that I created on a rainy day in my bedroom. I used no fancy Studio Lighting at all. My only light source was a hand-held flashlight that I kept moving rapidly. It was an experiment in Light Painting when I couldn't go outside to shoot.
